The Denver Gay and Lesbian Flag Football League (DGLFFL) is pleased to have your interest and is excited for you to become a member.  Simply put, we’re looking for prospective players who want a solid mix of fun and good-natured competition, no matter how inexperienced or seasoned one might be.

Here’s how it works:

1) Pick A Season - We play two seasons of between seven and nine weeks, one starting in September and the other in April.  Think about whether you’d like to play in the fall, the spring, or both!

2) Register… - In early August and early March of each year, the DGLFFL accepts registration forms to play in the upcoming season.  Check the website for the actual registration dates, including the early registration period, during which you can save on your registration fee.  Once registration closes, we cannot guarantee there will be slots available for additional players for that given season.  You may request to be put on the waiting list, which may be used to place players on teams that have lost players due to injury or attrition.  We only accept registration through our on-line system.  Registration fees may be mailed in or hand delivered at one of our skills clinics or pre-season parties.

3) ...Play a “Friendly” – Throughout the year, we periodically have “friendlies” or free football games where players are randomly placed on teams.  The simple goal is to play for two hours and have fun!  Prior to each “friendly,” DGLFFL volunteers are available to give you a quick tutorial on the rules of the game.  Additionally, all of our experienced players are more than willing to answer any other questions you have during the informal games.  Experience isn't necessary!

4) Skills Clinic – After registration, the DGLFFL conducts several Skills Clinics that are mandatory for all players prior to participating in league games.  DGLFFL volunteers spend a couple of hours explaining the league rules and offering insight into how to operate an effective offense, defense and special teams.

5) Team Selection – On the registration form, members have the option of requesting to be a Team Captain.  These Team Captains, in turn, spend an evening divvying up the players into teams.  Special care is given to balancing the teams to make sure there are equal levels of experience and initial skill.  NO ONE IS REJECTED; NO ONE IS “PICKED LAST.”

6) Opening Night Party – The DGLFFL will host an opening night party to tell the members which team they’ll be playing on and introduce them to their Team Captain.  It’s a great night!

7) Practice – The Team Captain and players will decide how much, if any, time should be spent on practice prior to the season.

8) Game Time! – The seasons run for between seven and nine weeks, with games played each weekend.  The exact time, date, and location of the games will be posted on the DGLFFL website and communicated to Team Captains.

9) Denver Super Bowl – At the end of the season, teams will meet each other for a series of final “play-off” games.  The two teams with the most play-off wins will square off in one final game, with the winner declared the season champion.

10) End of Season Party – This is a time to swap memories, share a good-natured laugh over each other’s follies, and celebrate victories and accomplishments.

We’re out to have fun, meet new friends, celebrate community, and get the heart pumping with the thrill of the game.  We hope you’ll join us!
